Hello! Welcome to my blog.

I am Tonya, of Tonya Cozart Photography based in Lamesa, Texas.
I am passionate about photography and telling the story of your child from a unique artistic perspective.
I blog here at least once a week with a favorite session I have chosen to feature. (I also try to blog other interesting things from time to time.)

Please come and see me for the special moments in your life.

Together, we can stop time. We can remember. It's worth it.

African Thunderstorm

This has been going around email, so you may have seen it.
I thought it was post worthy. For those of you who are frm the 80's generation, you will really enjoy it, as it is an old eighty's hit. Even if you don't know the song, it is a great rendition.
I don't know if I will feature a session this week, I am super busy trying to get everything wrapped up for my vacation. I leave sunday and will be gone for 2 weeks.
I may "mini" blog from Maui (yes, the one in Hawaii, I am sooo excited!), or if you are my friend on facebook, I will probably be doing mobile uploads there if you want to see what is going on while I am gone.
But other than that, it will be a bit slow for a few weeks.
I will only have my phone for contact with the internet world.

This is my annual trip with my mom and the kids, and again, the men have chosen to stay behind. Can you believe they are missing a trip to Hawaii on purpose? weird.

Anyway, so they will be here holding down the fort while us women and kiddos go have a great time. We are lucky to have such great men in our lives that we are able to take these great trips. We are so thankful for them...and we will miss them!

Friday Photo Tip

Just have a quick tip today.

Most everyone is using digital cameras these days, and with that has come the screen on the back where you see the picture and have come to "take the picture" from that view.
This is a handy feature, but one that I believe should only be used in instances where you cannot look through the camera viewfinder.

When you put the camera up to your eye and actually look through it, you eliminate everything else around you and only see what you are snapping the picture of, then you are more focused on distracting elements and composition.
This will always make for a better photo.

Also, you have less camera shake, which causes images to be blurry.

Try it for yourself, do an experiment. Take the same photo thru the viewfinder and without it and see how the photo turns out. See how you view things differently. You might be surprised.

Have a great weekend!

Featured Session

The twins are 6 month old...well 7 now, but this is their mid-year session. We had too much fun, and completely wore daddy out! He is such a great sport and helps out so much during their sessions.
They are just precious babies, and so sweet together, I love watching twins, they just amaze me.
They were super for their session, and there are lots of great images. Mom is anxiously waiting to see all of them, hopefully this will hold her over!

working out...

So I joined the gym a few weeks ago. For those of you who may not know, Lamesa has a nice gym now. Jaefitness
This is big news for our little town, and they have done a great job of making into a place you want to go. I need to get in better shape and take care of myself, so I have made that first step and I have been doing very well. It is hard with a busy summer and schedule, but I am making it 4-5 days out of the week. This is why I am not blogging as much, the workout has taken my blog time. I get up and get to town to work out first thing, and I usually blog during this time.

I really hate bloggers who always apologize about not blogging, it is such a pet peeve of mine, but I know I have many faithful readers, so I feel the need to let you know why I have not been around as much the last couple of weeks. So just know that I am taking better care of myself, and I will still blog, it may not be as much or as often, but I will still be here.

I am also planning my vacation, going to be gone for a couple of weeks, and planning a trip is hard work! Good thing you get to relax once it is done.

I do have a featured session to get on here, and then I have appts out of town today, so I will try to get it here for ya before I go.

Funny things my 4 yr old says!

so just a little recent laugh my youngest, the boy, brought into my life the other day.

lately he has been repeating himself when he talks. (ocd??)
he will say something, like: "mom, can I have something to eat", then he will whisper it again, "mom, can I have something to eat". We were with my mom the other day, and she asked him why he was repeating himself and he said: "because I like to hear myself echo".
Just when you think you have made your kid crazy, they explain the silliness with great sensibility...

Priceless....
